The sixth grade class will call BKW Elementary
School home for the 2009-2010 school year to mitigate space and
safety issues during capital project renovations at the
Middle/High School building.
Citing the safety and security of students as its highest
priority, the Board of Education voted unanimously April 6 to
move the sixth grade to the Elementary School, with some sixth
grade classes still taking place at the Middle/High School
building in construction-free areas.
While the location may be different, 6th Grade
teachers, the Guidance Office and BKW administration are working
with 6th grade students and parents to ensure the 6th grade
curriculum and overall transitional experience for this group of
students remains in tact.

Notifying the School of Sickness
Please call and notify the school when your
child is ill and will not be attending school for the day. The
attendance office will call to inquire why your child is not in
school if we have not received a call from you.
Absence From School
Prior to homeroom on the day the student returns
from an absence, they are expected to bring an excuse stating
the reason for the absence. This excuse is to be turned into the
Elementary School Office. The student should then return their
attendance card to the homeroom teacher. Each day the student
does not bring an excuse, they must still report to the
Elementary School Office to get a readmit slip. This is given to
their homeroom teacher. If the excuse is not brought in on the
fourth day, the student will be assigned a detention.
Late Arrival to School
When arriving late to school, the student should
report directly to the Elementary School Office to sign in. They
must either be accompanied by a parent or guardian or have a
note explaining the reason for being late. After signing in, a
pass will be signed and given to the student to give to the
teacher of the class they will be reporting to.
Early Leave From School
If a student plans to leave school before
dismissal time, they should report to the Elementary School
Office prior to homeroom with a note indicating the time and
reason the student is leaving early. This information will be
included on the daily absentee list to inform teachers and staff
that the student has permission to leave early. The student
must have their parent or guardian sign them out in the
Elementary School Office before the student leaves school.
